Emil Brolick - The Leelanau Conservancy

Emil Brolick - Director

Emil’s love of the outdoors was nurtured during his childhood years in Grand Haven. He hiked, camped, hunted and fished in the woods and along the shores of Lake Michigan. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from the University of Detroit, and it was in Detroit that he began his career with the Chrysler Corporation.  Most of his business career, however, has been in the restaurant industry. Emil has served as President of the Taco Bell and President and CEO of the Wendy’s Company, on whose Board of Directors he remains a member. He is a Trustee of the University of Detroit Mercy and a Life Member of the Board of Trustees of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Emil and his wife, Maureen, became seasonal residents of Leland in 2007 when their house on Lake Leelanau’s Nedow’s Bay was completed. Upon Emil’s retirement in mid-2016, they made Leland their permanent residence. Their children, Caroline (and her husband and two children) and Alex, cherish their summer and winter visits to beautiful Leelanau.
